Triops Longicaudatus Albino Egg Capsule – A rare and spectacular sight!
Are you looking for a very special addition to your breeding setup? The Triops Longicaudatus Albino is a rare color variation of the well-known American tadpole shrimp. Instead of the usual light brown shell, this albino variant has a striking milky white to slightly translucent carapace and red eyes. A breathtaking eye-catcher that contrasts beautifully against a dark aquarium bottom!
Prehistoric survivor with rapid reproduction
Just like the standard Longicaudatus, these creatures are descended from ancient survival artists who lived during the time of the dinosaurs. Their eggs (cysts) are extremely robust and resistant to prolonged drought. Once in the water, the creatures grow at an astonishing rate: from about two weeks of age, they begin to bury eggs in the sand, with an impressive production of up to 200 eggs per day! They reach a maximum age of about 12 weeks.
Easy to breed under the right conditions
Despite their unique and exclusive appearance, the Albino Longicaudatus is just as accessible for beginners as the normal variant. Within the breeding process, two factors are crucial:
- Temperature: Keep the breeding water constantly around 25 °C. The organism is sensitive to large fluctuations.
- Light: Sufficient light from a grow lamp above the tank is essential for the eggs to hatch.
How does breeding work?
Fill a clean breeding tank with still spring water and add the breeding batch. Ensure 25 °C and direct a light onto it. Within 24 to 48 hours, you will see the first tiny larvae (nauplii) trembling through the water! You don't need to feed on the first day. From day two, carefully give very small amounts of food (possibly finely ground) to allow them to grow optimally without polluting the water.
Key benefits at a glance:
- Unique Albino Variant: Milky white to translucent shell with red accents.
- Fast Hatching: First larvae hatch from the egg within 24 to 48 hours.
- Impressive Egg Production: Lays up to 200 eggs per day for subsequent breeding.
- Ideal Beginner Species: Strong and fast-growing breed at a constant water temperature of 25 °C.
- Includes Manual: Short, clear instructions for successful breeding.
